Christmas opening

This period is called “Aleksanterinkatu” in Finnish. The Christmas season starts when they turn on the Christmas lights in the streets. In Helsinki this year it was on Saturday 24th November and for Turku it was on Saturday 30th November. This year it was the 71st time Unfortunately, I cannot go there but I walked in the Christmas street in Helsinki. And I saw the little Christmas market.

The tradition is to put a big Christmas tree in the middle of the Senate Square for Helsinki and in front of the main cathedral for Turku and the Santa Claus or the mayor turn on the Christmas light in the tree.

I really like the Christmas period, it is my favourite period in year. My favourite activity during Christmas time is to walk in the street and admire the decoration in the street and the shop window. And when I arrive in my home, I take a tea, I sit down in my sofa with a soft blanket and in front of the Christmas movie.

And I really like the Christmas market and the ambiance in it, you can find lot of thing home made and without forget the Christmas drink.
